Malta and Guernsey sign a Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement in London

On 12 March 2012, the Government of Malta and the Government of Guernsey, signed an Agreement for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income.

The High Commissioner of Malta in the UK, HE Mr Joseph Zammit Tabona signed on behalf of the Government of Malta and the Chief Minister of the States of Guernsey, Deputy Lyndon Trott signed on behalf of the Government of the States of Guernsey. The signing ceremony took place at the Malta High Commission, London.

High Commissioner Zammit Tabona said this Agreement is instrumental for trade relations to be strengthened further. He added that the exchange of trade delegations could be organised to enhance trade relations between Malta and Guernsey Chief Minister Trott expressed his delight to sign such an important bilateral agreement and together with High Commissioner Zammit Tabona pledged their support with the implementation of this Agreement for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Tonio Borg remarked that this agreement - being the 60th Double Taxation Agreement signed in the past couple of years - is a concrete example of the efforts undertaken by the Government of Malta to attract foreign direct investment.
